The Italian Job - a summary

Anyone who knows a bit about cars and iconic movies will know about The Italian Job. The cool film has gained a massive following and modern versions of the picture, released way back in the 1960, have since been filmed starring superb actors like Charlize Theron and Mark Wahlberg. The lead role is taken on by veteran actor Michael Caine. His character Charlie, plays a criminal who gathers a team of people to steal a gold shipment from city in Italy with assistance from a trio of Mini Coopers, a bus and two Jaguars. Lots of car chases ensue through the city streets, highways, rooftops, rivers and sewers. The gold is successfully robbed by the team but their bus loses its grip on the road and is left wavering over a cliff edge - the film comes to an end as the men work out how to save themselves and their loot.

Thrilling and fast paced, The Fast and the Furious has a vibrant car racing story at its heart. Starring Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, the film looks at the dark underbelly of the automotive import market in Asia. A police officer called Brian O'Connor attempts to catch a number of thieves, who use motors that have been juiced up to steal merchandise, by building an alliance with a group of street racers. He gets caught up in an underground desert racing championship in an altered Dodge Charger and comes up against criminal Dom Toretto. In the final scenes Dom is injured and Brian lets him escape instead of putting him in jail for his actions because he has developed a friendship with him throughout the course of the movie. The action movie completes its aim to provide viewers with an edge-of-the-seat story.
