Car championships
There are many auto racing events which each have a different appeal and each have a set of specific rules. The official FIA World Touring Car Championship is one of the top racing events in the busy motor sports calendar. First formed in 1987, the WTCC series is held all around the world including in prestigious locations such as Great Britain, Czech Republic, Italy and Morocco. Other key motoring events include the Indianapolis 500 the Gumball Rally and the Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo . The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series are also classed as two of the world's best car racing championship events.
Guide to Formula One

F1 motor racing is undoubtedly one of the most stylish modern day sports to participate in. The motor sport developed from the Euro Grand Prix circuits but it took until 1950 for a set of rules to be agreed to, with Formula One races first taking place in 1950. Although the tournament races have taken place all over the globe, one constant is always there - the car firms who invest money into their teams annually. The famous Formula One firms include Ferrari, Renault and McLaren, although in recent years Red Bull and Jordan have raced successfully. The real stars have always been the drivers, from the audacious racing of Nelson Piquet through to the skilled Mika Hakkenen.
An introduction to car racing

Also known as auto racing, car racing is classed as the racing of cars for competition and is easily one of the best and most watched sports in the world. Many experts think car racing began just after the very first gasoline-powered vehicle was devised and it's widely thought that the first ever world car race was put together in 1894 by a French magazine known as Le Petit Journal. The first car race track started in Paris and ended in Rouen and attracted major manufacturers like De Dion, Panhard and Peugeot as well as various private automobile owners. Although car racing continued to adapt over the following years, the first pure racing automobiles weren't built until the 1930s, with high performance vehicles from auto manufacturers like Auto Union and Bugatti transforming the feel and style of car racing forever.
